A lot of people have commented on this video being very Madonna-Esq. The religious references being like Madonna's like a prayer video. For example, Madonna has rosary beads in her video and so does Lady Gaga in hers. It also directly references Vogue, another Madonna song, in terms of costume for part of the video. Lady Gaga copies the black all in one suit and the short blond hair. She also does similar movement in this section of the video to Madonna in her video. Lady Gaga makes pop music and pop videos. She sticks to the conventions of a typical pop video by doing a dance routine in her video and the song lyrics match what is happening in the video. Although she does wear avant garde clothing, her style fits into the pop genre. Her music appeals to all types of people. Although it is marketed towards pop music fans, she doesn't appear to have a target age range, as her music is widely liked by all ages. However the Alejandro video has a very sexual content and so is most likely aimed at young adults and adults rather then children and early teens. The narrative of the video is how she has broken up with her boyfriend and possibly cheated on him. She is saying she doesn't want a serious relationship with him and the video shows her with lots of other guys. This video is a change from Lady Gaga's usual video's as she has not got all her fancy make up and clothing on in the way she usually does. It is a stripped down version of Lady Gaga.

Bad Romance (Lady Gaga)

The narrative of this video is all about how she loves a man, but it isn't going well (Bad Romance). Again it is in the pop genre shown by the dance routine and the big costumes and make up show the genre. It is unclear who the target audience is, as it covers relationships a topic relevant to everyone from young teens upwards. This video is a good representation of Lady Gaga as it is showing her in her unusual avant garde clothing and make up. there is also parts in the video in which her eyes have been manipulated and made bigger then normal to an almost cartoon like level. She communicates the meaning of her songs through her videos in very abstract ways. Most videos would show a play by play of events. Where as Lady Gaga uses abstract costumes and scenery to show what the song is about.
